Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Clinical Supervisor

The Clinical Supervisor serves an important role in the delivery of services to our target population. This person is responsible for the clinical oversight of a transdisciplinary Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team. The Clinical Supervisor will oversee the development and application of a range of programs and services sufficiently flexible and dynamic to meet the needs of individuals who have psychiatric disabilities and substance abuse issues who have not been well served or have been unable to access traditional mental health programs. This person provides supervision for the ACT team members including Social Workers, Peer Specialists, Addiction Counselors, Nurses and other professionals, assuring that the agency values of self determination and the dignity of choice through a harm reduction approach are expressed in all aspects of team practice. He or she will conduct intake of new clients and performs annual assessments. The Clinical Supervisor ensures productivity goals are met by team members and reviews clinical notes and treatment plans to ensure regulatory compliance and quality service. He or she maintains oversight to ensure that client self identified goals for recovery, rehabilitation, and community integration are supported by appropriate services and best practices. Represents Pathways at meetings with DC Department of Behavioral Health (DBH), community agencies and other related parties.





  • Provides clinical supervision of ACT team comprised of professional, paraprofessional and support staff.  Ensures team provides related services to assigned clientele in accordance with ACT policies, practices and in compliance with accreditation, certification and regulatory standards.

  • Reviews and approves staff schedules, reimbursement requests, and compliance with company policies.  Ensures continual skill development, performance reviews and training of team members.

  • Provides weekly individual supervision of clinical staff (Service Coordinators and Peer Specialists) and monthly field supervision to ensure consistency of practice and compliance with regulatory standards. Provides additional guidance and coaching to team members as needed.

  • Documents all supervision sessions in the employee record. Works with individual team members to develop Performance Improvement Plans as needed.

  • Provides weekly group supervision of the ACT Staff to ensure program performance goals are met.

  • Participate and lead orientation and on-going clinical trainings.

  • Responsible for the quality assurance of the clinical records. This includes reviewing and approving individual recovery plans; reviewing and approving clinical notes; and

  • ensuring timely documentation. Conducts initial intake of new clients and annual assessments, ensuring quality service

  • Represents Pathways at meetings with DBH, other providers, conferences and at community meetings.

  • Provides individual therapy to ACT consumers 2-3 hours per week.

  • Completes monthly outcome reports on billing, quality assurance and timely documentation.

  • Provides other related duties as required.



  • Master’s degree in a clinical specialty (i;e; social work, nursing, psychology, psychiatry, rehabilitation counseling) from an accredited university required.

  • Licensed in the District of Columbia as either a LICSW, LPC or Registered Nurse required.

  • Minimum 4 years  experience in case management or counseling of people with psychiatric disabilities, histories of substance abuse and/or trauma. Previous experience with ACT highly desired.

  • 2 years of demonstrated experience supervising staff performing case management services as indicated.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of mental health and substance abuse clinical skills

  • Patience, creativity, flexibility, compassion, and passion for working with persons with complex needs

  • Excellent organizational, communication, writing, and computer skills;

  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus

  • Driver’s License required
